Clouds of Witness - Dorothy L. Sayers Ultimately, this was disappointing. Not because it's a bad book - it's not. But because the previous one, Whose Body?, was so much more fun. Lord Peter was not staying with them, and that's the unfortunate problem with this book - the fact that Lord Peter and Bunter just aren't in it enough. The whole point of a series of novels about Lord Peter Wimsey is that he should be in them. His characterisation, and his interactions with others (Bunter especially) are what made the first novel. The detective parts of the novel are mostly secondary. The appearances of Lord Peter's mother are some recompense, but even then we are really still left wanting...
